Placing top 5 in Civil Engineering Board and top 6 in Social Work Board

The College of Engineering in URS Morong campus responded to the challenge of President Olivia F. de Leon by producing the top 5th placer in the most recent 2010 Civil Engineering board. URS Civil Engineering graduate Rommel V. Baraquiel got 94.75% score and ranked 5th which is just 1.75 point away from the CE board topnotcher. He led the 10 new licensed civil engineers out of 21 board takers who graduated from URS. Last June 2010, Leslie A. Loresto scored 83% and placed 6 in the Social Work (SW) Board barely missing the top spot by 1.40 percentage point to a social work top placer. In sum, URS has produced already four (4) PRC board top placers in accountancy, engineering and social

work in just a span of two years.

URS Passing Rates Relative to National Passing Rates

For the first half of the year, all engineering board licensure examinations including social work board have registered significantly higher passing rates as compared to national passing rates. Accountancy, (CPA) and licensure examination for teachers (LET) registered slightly lowered passing rates relative to national passing rates that extend into the 2nd half of the year. Passing rates in civil engineering, mechanical engineering and social work board examinations continue their above national passing rates until the second half of the year. Combining the results of the two PRC board examinations in CE, ME and SW Board also resulted to better passing rates when compared to average national passing rates in these professions. Across engineering boards, 28 out of 60 takers or passing rate of 46.67% is really a good batting average. For the entire 2010, with the exception of ECE Board which has yet to be posted as of this time, URS has produced 309 professional elementary and secondary teachers, 28 licensed engineers, 12 licensed social workers, 4 certified public accountants and 1 forester.
