Faculty and Staff Development

For 2010, fifteen (15) faculty completed and earned a doctorate degree. Twelve of these are in the field of mathematical science while the other three finished doctorate degree in business administration, public administration and education in URS and other universities. Likewise, thirty-three (33) faculty finished their masters degree in various disciplines. As of the moment, fifty-two (52) faculty are graduate scholars in their respective specializations. For 2nd semester of academic year 2010-2011, nineteen (19) faculty graduate scholars are currently funded by the university. Three of these are full-time and sixteen are part-time.

In addition to scholarships being provided by the university, six hundred twenty-two (622) faculty and staff were sent by the university to attend 149 seminars and trainings. The University has spent one million two hundred ninety-eight thousand and nine hundred seventy pesos (Php 1,298,970.00) for all these training/seminars from January to December of the current fiscal year (Table 5). Ten faculty and staff attended administrative and technical trainings in Nanyang Polytechnic in Singapore while seven faculty went to Vietnam as visiting professors for the Thai Nguyen-URS Master of Business Administration program. Likewise, two faculty together with MBA students conducted international benchmarking in selected universities in Malaysia while another faculty and staff attended seminars in their respective professional association.
