First Phase of Biogas Technology Trainers’ Training Course

With the focus on looking for green and cleaner but cheaper source of renewable energy, the regional and provincial S&T Office of DOST in partnership with the University, conducted a four-day training course for trainers of Biogas Technology from 25-29 of January 2010 in Morong and Tanay campuses. Engineer Fernando Ablaza, Provincial S&T Officer and a well-known biogas expert discussed the history and principles of biogas. He also demonstrated a hands-on training on Construction of biogas plant and supervised a site visit on actual biogas plant in Batangas.

1st Quarter Meeting of Regional Development Council – Sectoral Committee on Social Development

The University, being an active member-institution of RDC-SCSD in CALABARZON region, hosted the 1st Council Quarterly Meeting on 4 February 2010 in the University Function Hall. Several members presented their respective institution’s iniatives including Dr. de Leon who was the previous chairperson of the committee, also presented the University’s iniatives on higher education development in the region.

Faculty Extension Seminar

A second phase of seminar-training on extension was held from March 1-2, 2010 in three different venues as a follow-up to the extension workshops conducted last year. The same resource persons were tapped and headed by Dr.Blanda R. Sumayao of University of the Philippines in Los Baños. All extension coordinators and selected deans in all ten campuses were invited to attend and share the trends, problems and issues concerning the successful conceptualization and implementation of socially-relevant community extension projects.
