Culture and Arts Research Launched during 9th URS Foundation Day

Dr. Olivia F. de Leon spearheaded the celebration of 9th foundation day of URS on August 11, 2010 at Angono Campus. Starting the celebration was the observance of morning mass followed by traditional parade of all the faculty, staff and students before the formal program. To take the opportunity to address the entire faculty and staff, Dr. Allen U. Bautista, Chancellor, Cluster 1, introduced the Culture and the Arts research during the celebration. The Chancellor cited the move to conduct an initial survey in the arts, culture and history of the Province of Rizal.

Meanwhile Dr. Hermy D. Estrabo, Vice-President for Research, Development, Extension and Production, issued an Office Advisory for the First Call to Faculty Researchers to conduct researches related to culture and the arts. He suggested some topics like the prevailing religious practices in


he localities such as wedding rites, mourning practices, Cordero of Morong, senakulo of Cainta, customs and traditions distinct in every town, native painting and theatrical performances of the place and historical account of the town among others.

Honorable Governor Casimiro A. Ynares III and Congressman Joel Roy Duavit were the special guests and gave welcome messages and extended their greetings to the entire University represented by the host campus, faculty and students.
